The DSD INSURANCE / ALLSTATE INDEPENDENT DISTRIBUTOR SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Allstate Insurance and Tram Norris, Partner of DSD Insurance have a scholarship program designed to assist Flowers Foods independent distributors’ children who plan to pursue post-secondary education in college and vocational programs. Our scholarships are being offered EACH year for full-time study at any accredited post-secondary institution of the student’s choice.
This scholarship program is administered by Scholarship America, a national nonprofit educational support and student aid service organization. Scholarship America seeks to involve and assist the private sector in expanding educational opportunities and encouraging educational achievement. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability or national origin.
Since this scholarship program was first launched, DSD Insurance has provided over $230,000 in scholarships for children of Flowers Foods Independent Distributors who are planning to continue their education in an accredited institution of higher learning — a college, university or vocational training program of the student’s choice.
Eligibility
To qualify for the DSD Insurance / Allstate Independent Distributor Scholarship Fund applicants must be:
• Children of a full-time Flowers Foods independent distributor
• Not older than the age of 24 as of the date the applicant is verified
• High school seniors or graduates who plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school, OR
• otherwise qualified students who are already enrolled in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school
Scholarship Awards
Up to ten $1,000 scholarships will be awarded each year. Awards are not renewable, but students may reapply to the program each year as long as they meet the eligibility requirements described above.

The Application Process
Interested students must submit an ONLINE application along with a current transcript of their grades to Scholarship America no later than March 1, 2023.
Applicants are responsible for gathering and submitting all necessary information. Applications are evaluated on the information supplied. Therefore, it is important to answer all questions as completely as possible. All information received is considered confidential and is reviewed only by Scholarship America.
Selection of Recipients
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, a statement of educational and career goals, and a recommendation.
Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of DSD Insurance or Allstate Insurance play a part in the selection of scholarship recipients.
Applicants will be notified by mid-April whether or not they have been selected to receive an award.
Payment of Scholarships
Allstate Independent Distributor scholarship payments are authorized by Allstate, Tram Norris and DSD Insurance and processed by Scholarship America. Payments are made in two equal installments on August 15 and September 30.
Checks are distributed by Scholarship America, made payable to the school and mailed to the student’s home address.
Obligations
Recipients have NO obligation to Allstate, Tram Norris or DSD Insurance. They are however, required to supply Scholarship America with current transcripts and to notify Scholarship America of any changes in address, school enrollment or other relevant information.
Revisions
Allstate and Tram Norris reserve the right to review the conditions and procedures of this scholarship program and to make changes at any time including termination of the program.
